Hello everyone! My name is Julien Pham, and I am in my third year of the Information and Communication program at the Campus of Letters and Humanities. Since January 8th, I have joined the VirtualSociety team as an intern for a duration of 6 weeks.
To familiarize myself with the project, I started by browsing the VirtualSociety website and reading project documentation, such as the "Tone Of Voice Guide." The Tone of Voice, or "le style verbal" in French, is an internal document that shows how the studio communicates its values and vision to its audience. The "TOV" reflects its identity and personality. It is used to be recognizable to the community and to establish connections with the audience. With all the documentation I've read, I write and publish posts on X in both French and English, in line with what the "TOV" tells us.
I will be creating various concept arts of rooms in a house (bathroom, kitchen...) or outdoor environments. This is quite new for me because I don't often draw everyday objects or furniture. This exercise allows me to broaden my knowledge and step out of my comfort zone.
Currently, I am working on a bathroom and the different furniture and objects that make it up. When I have questions, Melissa and Chloe are there to answer them and assist me as needed.
For example, at the beginning, I had no idea how or where to start my concept art. So, Chloe gave me the key steps to create it: research on themes and objects to create a moodboard. She helped me with perspective and advised me to work in isometric. Melissa also provides feedback, for instance, when certain objects don't fit or when the scale is not correct.
For me, when I discovered VirtualSociety, I imagined a game with a multitude of servers and different worlds, including modern, medieval, and futuristic cities. Imagining an infinite number of fantastic worlds created by millions of players, I can't wait for the game to be released so I can try it out with friends.
I would like to express my gratitude to Nicolas and the entire team for accepting and welcoming me among them. I will give my all and do my best throughout the duration of the internship.
